Dear WAHHI Friends,
On behalf of the WAHHI Board and Council for this year, welcome to the 60th year of our association (1961-2021). Collectively, we are excited to serve our Association this year and we look forward to meeting you, making new friends and memories, and contributing in so many ways to WAHHI and our community.
As we begin our year together, several aspects of our activities this year will be different as we adapt to new guidelines with respect to social distancing, facility capacity restrictions, and encouraging safe practices by all participants due to the COVID19 pandemic. We are working collectively to build meaningful program opportunities this year with this evolving situation. At this moment, facilities which we have used in the past for luncheons, interest groups, informationals and other gatherings are still quite restricted, so that’s going to require new thinking from us. Always, we will have the health and safety of our members at the forefront of our considerations.
I ask that you please be open to change as we adjust our mutual expectations regarding our traditional four large luncheon events. We may need to opt for outdoor gatherings, several smaller gatherings, or online events as ways to connect with each other. Many of you joined our inaugural online event using a webinar platform to hear New York Times Bestselling Author Mary Alice Monroe. We may be able to offer more of this type of program where you can use your computer, tablet or phone to view or listen to the events in the comfort of your homes. As we continue to monitor our community health and the guidance of our local officials, the Board/Council will be thoughtful regarding our approach, keep you informed, and remain supportive of our community at large.
We will continue to publish the “WAHHI Wednesday” eblast, as well as update the website and our social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram). Please look for an online membership survey this month to share your feedback on WAHHI activities. Your feedback will guide our Board/Council discussions. Of course, if you have any ideas, thoughts or concern to share with WAHHI leadership, you may always contact me at President@WAHHI.org
Many thanks to Tracy Harris and the 2019-20 Board/Council for their leadership and volunteerism this past year – particularly with the rapid changes and adjustments required!
We look forward to a great – and maybe somewhat different – 60th year together! Please join or renew your membership to celebrate our Association’s legacy, women, our community, and our future together.
Be in touch and please stay healthy,
