WAHHI Interest Groups are the heart and soul of connecting our members! You must be a current member of WAHHI to belong to an Interest Group. With nearly 50 different activities, you choose how you want to learn, grow, play, tour, create, cook, etc. based on the group you join. Interest Group participation is a welcome addition to all of the other special events WAHHI has to offer!
Meeting locations vary based on the Group’s activity for – some meet in members’ homes while other Groups meet in restaurants or on-site with sports and entertainment activities. Some groups may charge a program fee to cover operating expenses or activity costs. Others raise funds to distribute to local charities. Although some may be indicated as closed (indicated by an asterisk *) due to capacity or hiatus, these may accept new members on wait lists.

|Greeting Card Making by Peeps||Want to make your own creative greeting cards? In one session members will make 3 cards. Enjoy camaraderie with new friends and learn how to assemble cards for birthdays, thank you, thinking of you, and all special occasions. Meet in group leader’s home. Offers 2 classes monthly: choose either a Monday or a Saturday session. Fee of $20 for card kits.|
|Pinterest Interest!||Pinterest inspired crafts accomplished in an afternoon. Group members meet in members’ homes and various other locations, on the 4th Monday of the month (Oct-Nov and Jan-May). Members pay a $5 annual fee to cover the cost of supplies.|
|Blue Stockings Book Club||This book club meets monthly, on the third Wednesday of each month, at 1:00pm. Meetings are held in member's homes or other locations, as needed. Books are selected that will promote thoughtful discussion. There are no fees to join. This group is currently open to new members.|
|Bookmarkers *||This group offers a series of four guest speakers who present a reading or writing-related topic for discussion. No books to read -- just listen and be inspired. Annual fee of $10 for door prizes (must be paid by Sep 30 every year). Meets the 2nd Tuesday of Oct, Dec, Feb, and Apr, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.|
|Books and Banter *||Meets in members’ homes or other locations.|
|Ladies, Lunch & Literature *||Meets on the 4th Monday at various restaurants for lunch and book discussions.|
|Literary Ladies Book Group||Meets via Zoom. Members recommend books to read
and discuss, including novels, historical fiction, biographies/memoirs, and history.
|Women of Words (WOW)||Meets in members’ homes or other locations.|
|Difference Makers||Provides opportunities to serve in places in the community to "Make a Difference in a Day.” Locations vary by project. $5 annual fee per member.|
|Fun Raising Funds||Meetings are held every other month at the Hilton Head Library. Members discuss new and creative ways to raise money for WAHHI’s Charitable Fund and Youth Community Service Awards. Have fun volunteering – it’s FUN RAISING FUNDS!|
|DOW Divas Own Wealth *||A women’s Investment Club. This is a group of WAHHI women who formed an investment club which follows the Investment Clubs of America procedures. Learn about investing, growth stocks, and financial independence through reading and presentations. Meet at various local restaurants, once a month on Thursdays. Currently closed to new members. Contact Group Leader if interested in starting a new, similar investment club.|
|Women's Financial Resilience||"NEW" Increase your financial resilience. This interest group meets in a supportive environment with a common goal to become informed, inspired, and gain financial wellness through shared experiences and knowledge. Topics are chosen in advance based on the interests of the group members.
Presentations by educators with a focus on empowering women's financial resilience. No financial products will be encouraged or sold. Meetings will be held monthly, initially via Zoom. Dates and times to be determined.

|Share recipes, hostess tips and fellowship in members’ homes. Begins in October. Dates, times and locations vary. Cost to be determined.|
|Couples Gourmet||Enjoy cooking, entertaining, meeting new people, and the conviviality of good old-fashioned dinner parties. Includes partners. Members meet at member host’s home; 3 other couples per gathering. Program fee of $25 per year. Dates, times and locations vary.|

|I: Members share a formal luncheon prepared by two of the members once a month from October through May, on the 2nd Thursday of the month, at noon. Annual fee of $65.
III, IV: Members (on a rotating basis) prepare and serve lunch in members’ homes (frequency and times vary by Group).
|Happy Hour Bunch||Purely for fun! This Group finds a different “Happy Hour” site about every other month (days and times vary). Members pay their own check for food and beverages (discounts may be negotiated).|
|International Lunch Group *||Explore food from diverse countries and ethnic groups at restaurants or cooking demonstrations. Meets at 11:00am at different local area restaurants on the last Wednesday of every month.|
|Out to Lunch Bunch||One of WAHHI’s longest running Interest Groups! Have fun and meet new people. Lunch at some of the finest local restaurants 3-4 times a year. A variety of food choices at discounted prices are negotiated for each lunch. Lovely give away door prizes, too! There is a $5 annual fee which covers supplies and door prizes.|
|Wine Tasting Club||Taste and learn about wine in members’ homes, restaurant wine dinners, club, or wine store tastings by professional sommeliers.|
|Bridge||This game is Social Bridge, for experienced players only. Players meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 11:15am, at Hudson’s Seafood Restaurant on HHI. A $1 contribution is made each time, which is used for prize money (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place). There is a $5 annual fee to replenish supplies. Members pay their own food and beverage.|
|Canasta||No experience necessary. We play Classic Canasta on the 2nd Monday every month, 11:15am, at Hudson’s Seafood Restaurant on HHI. There is a $5 annual fee to replenish supplies. Members pay their own food and beverage.|
|Hearts are Trump Euchre Club||Euchre is a card game for FOUR players, played with the 24 highest cards (9, 10, J, Q, K, A) of a standard deck. Cards 4 and 6 of a black suit as well as cards 4 and 6 of a red suit are used for scoring. Multiple tables can be playing, and rotation of players occurs after each game. Players meet monthly (day, time and location TBD).|
|Mahjong||This group accepts all levels of players including beginners. Players meet on the second Wednesday of the month, 1:00 pm, at Giuseppi's at The Plaza at Shelter Cove.|
|A’Chivers Herb Group *||Meets 1st Monday, October thru May, for activities related to herbs.|
|Southern Gardeners||Meets 6 times during the WAHHI year to discuss gardening in the Lowcountry.|
|Golf Clinics||Doug Weaver (Head Pro, Palmetto Dunes) teaches the fundamentals – grip, posture, swing, course strategy – and how to relax your mind. Lessons focus on putting, chipping, pitching, fairway shots, and drives. Takes place at Arthur Hills Golf Course (inside Palmetto Dunes /Leamington) Thursdays, 2:00-3:40. Cost is $40 per person, per clinic. Maximum of 6 golfers per clinic.|
|Golf - Nine & Wine||This is a 9-hole social golf group with players of all levels who want to have fun and improve their game. Play on various courses throughout the area and enjoy happy hour wine (or something else) after play. Pace of play should be 2 hours for 9 holes. Players pay at the Club, on the day of play. Cost is $30-40/pp for 9 holes, cart and range balls.|
|On the Water||Enjoy outdoor water activities such as boat tours or kayak tours in a group setting. Days, times, costs and locations vary. Group members register directly with the hosting venues.|
|Pickleball Clinics & Events||Clinics for beginners and experienced players scheduled seasonally with pickleball professionals at Palmetto Dunes. Dates and times to be determined.|
|Pickleball Piccadillies||Weekly play on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, for pickleball players level 2.0 and up. Must have knowledge of basic rules and scoring. If new to the sport, participation in beginner clinic and a few round robin sessions at local pickleball clubs recommended.|
|Tennis||Group tennis play held at Van Der Meer Tennis Club in Shipyard. Play starts in October, every Wednesdays, from 1pm-3pm. Players should be at 2.5-3.0. Annual fee of $5 plus $7.50 per week for each session.|

|Arts Center of Coastal Carolina: Backstage Tours||Behind the scenes at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, several times a year. Pricing varies.|
|Movie Matinees and Munchies||Meets the 3rd Monday of the month to attend a matinee at a local movie theater and discuss the film at a local restaurant.|
|Gallery Gals||Museum and gallery visits in Hilton Head, Savannah, and Charleston. Last or 4th Thursday of the month (Oct, Nov, Jan-May). Times and locations vary.|
|Carolina Classics - Canyon Ranch||Trip to Canyon Ranch in Arizona with WAHHI friends
and invited guests.
|Traveling Overseas Together||International travel through a trusted tour operator. Group members are given options in September for travel in the following year. Bookings are always made a year in advance.|
|Beach Dogs||*NEW* Stay centered and grounded in the presence of dogs on the beach. This is a monthly meetup at various HHI beaches with dogs and their owners.
Members without dogs are welcome, too. Dates, times and beach locations will vary based on the members of the group. The group will start with meet and greets, and will likely expand to include fund raising, occasional speakers, and more.
|Care Package Parties||*NEW* Join the party! It’s all about sharing conversation and packing up a surprise care package to "brighten someone's day!" Each gathering is a BYOB party with a planned theme (communicated beforehand) for creating a special package. Times and locations vary.|
|Meditation Circle||*NEW* Learn how to meditate with a certified Chopra Center Instructor in Primordial Sound Meditation! Learn breathing practices, Mantra Meditation, and the importance of intention. Members participate in 1-hour Zoom sessions to introduce them to the benefits of meditation in preparation for Group Meditation. Dates and times to be determined.|
|All the Single Ladies||Networking opportunities for single women with common interests. gathering spots. Dates, times and locations vary.|
|Gullah Interest Group||Explore Gullah history through talks and tours. This group is an introduction to the Gullah history of this area. We will look at who the Gullahs are, what created this history, and how they still exist on the island of Hilton Head today. This group will have several introduction sessions on the Gullahs and then participate in Gullah activities throughout the year.|
|Memoir Writing: Don't Just Leave Them Jewelry *||Writing workshop to help you capture and share values and memories. On hiatus until Spring 2022. Not accepting new members at this time.|
|Nature Exploration||This group plans monthly visits to outdoor natural features of the area with local experts to share details. Visits are planned for Fridays at 10AM. Dates vary monthly. Annual group membership fee of $10 with a $10 fee per tour. Goal is to provide “Citizen Involvement” required for the Town of HHI’s “Audubon International Certification.” Current project is creating a “Nature Talks Speakers Bureau” offering speakers to community groups.|
|Newcomers & Neighbors||A mix of new and seasoned residents help others settle into their new home towns. Meet on the last Wednesday of the month, from 6-8pm, at members’ homes. Attendees bring own beverage and appetizer to share.|
