The Halloween Fundraiser at The Bank and Beer Garden was a success! One hundred twenty-four members registered for the event, while about 80 attended.
I would like to acknowledge and thank WAHHI members who contributed to the success of the event. A special thanks to Anita Maynard, Bluffton-At- Large Ambassador, for stepping up to co-lead. President Elect Linda Armstrong and Gloria Trujillo participated in decoration set-up and take-down. Gloria hand-carved two pumpkins for the event, one with “WAHHI” carved on it. Very impressive decorations indeed!
Alice Schulte, Shipyard Ambassador, did an outstanding job selling raffle tickets to both WAHHI members and others enjoying The Bank and Beer Garden. Burnt Church Distillery donated a gift card for a party of eight to have a VIP Tour Experience. Due to Alice’s determined efforts, $580 was collected from the raffle sales. Way to sell, Alice!
A panel of three judges, Fern Matteis, Tanyia Oakley and Gloria Trujillo, all new members of WAHHI, had the fun job of picking the winning costumes. They had the opportunity to meet many members and for members to meet them. The award winners are: • Best Costume: Police Officers Sharon and Bob Wilson • Most Original: “Maryanne and Gilligan” Barb and Bill Revere • Funniest: Revealing Chef Debbie Hess • Scariest: Pirates Carol and Barry Hodakoski • Coolest: Bike Riders with Attitude Pam and Mike Fuller • Sparkiest: Bike Rider Hippies Diane and Ciaran Storan While there were six trophies handed out, I’m most positive that if there were a seventh my husband Mark and I would have received it, as we were bank robbers. Don’t you agree? Unfortunately, the police officers arrested us and took Best Costume. Go figure!
It was a lovely evening with much mingling and eating. Thanks to all of you who supported this event. Admission raised $1,200 and raffle sales were $580, so a total of $1,780 will go to the WAHHI Charity Fund.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Grateful for so many things, including your support.
