WAHHI Interest Groups are the heart and soul of connecting our members! You must be a current member of WAHHI to belong to an Interest Group. With nearly 50 different activities, you choose how you want to learn, grow, play, tour, create, cook, etc. based on the group you join. Interest Group participation is a welcome addition to all of the other special events WAHHI has to offer!
Meeting locations vary based on the Group’s activity for – some meet in members’ homes while other Groups meet in restaurants or on-site with sports and entertainment activities. Some groups may charge a program fee to cover operating expenses or activity costs. Others raise funds to distribute to local charities. Check out this generous list of WAHHI Interest Groups that are currently active. Although some may be indicated as full (indicated by an asterisk *) due to capacity or hiatus, these may accept new members on wait lists.

You've Got Mail | Want to make your own creative greeting cards? In one session members make 3 cards. Enjoy camaraderie with new friends and learn how to assemble cards for birthdays, thank you, thinking of you, and special occasions. | |
Knitting Group | The goal of the Knitting Group is to promote the knitting and crocheted art among WAHHI members. Knitters will get together and exchange ideas about projects. All levels are welcome. Beginning knitters can seek assistance from more experienced members of the Group. This Group will get involved in charitable knitting events. Meet on the 1st Wednesday of the month, at 2 pm, at the Art League of HHI. | |
Pinterest Interest! | Pinterest inspired crafts accomplished over 2 hours. Group meets every 4-6 weeks. Projects are designed to be easy to do requiring 'little to no creativity'. Everything you need for the respective project is provided in the session with instructions provided. Fees are set per project and dependent on materials required. Sessions accommodate 20-25 participants. | |

Fun Raising Funds | This group does good—and has fun doing it! There’s always something meaningful and engaging happening—from Golf Scrambles and Pickleball Tournaments to Garden Tours, Dine & Shop events, Raffles, Sponsorships, and our monthly Difference Makers projects. Whether you lead, join a planning team, or volunteer on event day, every role benefits WAHHI members, local nonprofits, the WAHHI Charitable Fund, Difference Makers, and our Youth Community Service Awards. Out To Lunch Bunch - FULL | One of WAHHI’s longest running Interest Groups! Have fun and meet new people. Lunch at some of the finest local restaurants 3-4 times a year. A variety of food choices at discounted prices are negotiated for each lunch. Lovely give away door prizes, too! There is a $5 annual fee which covers supplies and door prizes. | |
Veggin-Out 2 Gather | Learn with us to eat healthier, whether dining-out or eating-in. This group is vegetarian/vegan/pescatarian. We will meet six times a year, once a month, usually for lunch. The venues will include local clean-eating restaurants and gathering at a home to share dishes. In addition, opportunities to attend food preparation demonstrations will be presented. | |

Canasta | No experience necessary. We play 2-deck, 11 card "Classic Canasta" on the 2nd Monday every month, at Hudson’s Seafood Restaurant on HHI. Play begins promptly at 11:15 am. | |
Eucre | A monthly daytime euchre group. Each table needs 4 players. Extra players can mingle and then rotate in. We are willing to teach new players. | |
Mah-Jongg | A twice monthly gathering for experienced Mah-Jongg players. We play at Robber's Row Grill on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 11:00 to 1:00 with lunch following (in lieu of room charge). Players must have the current card and are encouraged to bring their tiles. | |

Transplanted Gardeners | The group meets 5 times a year for gardening related speakers, hands on workshops or excursions in the area. The location and time for each meeting will vary based on the event. The group has a $10 membership fee. | |

Golf Clinics Interest Group | Doug Weaver (Palmetto Dunes Head Pro) teaches the fundamentals – grip, posture, swing, course strategy – and how to relax your mind. Lessons focus on putting, chipping, pitching, fairway shots, and drives. All levels welcome. Golf clinics are held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-3:40 pm. Cost is $40pp; maximum 6 golfers per clinic. | |
Golf Nine & Wine | This is a 9-hole social golf group with players of all levels who want to have fun and improve their game. Play is every Friday at various courses throughout Hilton Head and Bluffton. Enjoy happy hour and conversation after play. Pace of play should be 2 hours for 9 holes. Players pay at the Club, on the day of play. Cost is $35-$55/pp for 9 holes, cart, and range balls. | |
On the Water | On the Water is a fun group for ladies to get together on the water all around Hilton Head and Bluffton. These activities include kayaking, paddleboarding shrimp boats, day and evening cruises of various sizes including trips to Savannah. We use a number of different vendors so we take off from various locations depending on the activity. All are welcome to come and try something new! | |
Pickleball For Advanced Intermediates | Advanced intermediate (3.5) pickleball players, with a deep understanding of the game, court position and strategies, looking to play others who are competitive and focused in weekly 90 minute round robin or ladder format sessions. | |
Pickle for Fun | We are a 2.5-3.0 non-competitive round robin pickleball group that plays weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays. | |
Pickleball Clinics & Events | There are a limited number of openings each week to members of the Pickleball Clinics & Events interest group for clinics at a variety of levels from beginning to 3.0 level. Each IG member may only enroll in a clinic once a week and no more to allow other members the same opportunity. It is essential that members commit to attending once they enroll. Three day clinics are offered by Asheville Coaches and Local Coaches three or four times a year. | |
Pickleball Piccadillies - FULL | Join us for weekly play at Hilton Head Beach and Tennis on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays for pickleball players level 3.0 and up. The cost to play is $8. Tuesday play is ladder play and Thursday and Saturday are round robins. | |
Tennis | Group tennis play is generally held at Van Der Meer Tennis Club in Shipyard. We play almost every week on Wednesdays, from 10:00 am-11:30 pm. Players should be a USTA 3.0 or 3.5 level. Cost is $15 per week for each session paid at the tennis center. Balls are not included. | |
WAHHI Women on Wheels | Women on Wheels" (WOW) is for all levels who enjoy riding, socializing and having fun while getting exercise. The group will meet twice a month for one beach ride and one off-beach ride along the island paths. Beach cruisers, gear bikes and pedal assist bikes are preferred. E-bikes are allowed but not recommended as some rides do not allow E-bikes. | |

Explore international, domestic and local travel topics through curated presentations by speakers and through the sharing by members. You will be exposed to solo, couple, group, and family travel options, along with online tools and other resources. There will always be time to address questions and concerns as this group presents the opportunity to socialize and even find travel partners. Relax —there will be no sales of travel packages. Happy Feet | Keep those feet moving with fellow WAHHI members. A variety of in studio dance opportunities are offered on a pop-up basis Wednesday morning when the dance teacher is in town. Examples include tap dance and dance exercise incorporating Broadway and jazz as examples. Beach dancing is offered monthly on the beach beginning in September and ending in May. Genealogy Gals | Working on your family genealogy—or thinking about starting? Fair warning: it can be addictive! If you enjoy solving mysteries or piecing together jigsaw puzzles, this just might become your new favorite hobby. Our activities will include Zoom and in-person sessions with certified genealogists, group outings to genealogical sites and libraries, and casual meet-ups to share discoveries. Cost is $10 to help cover speaker fees. Meeting days, times, and locations will vary—come explore your roots with us! | |
Nature Exploration | This Group is focused on experiencing the natural environment of the Lowcountry. We are engaged with the Town of Hilton Head in support of their Audubon International Certification, leading the Citizen Involvement Initiative, and the initiatives of the Coastal Discovery Museum and their relationship with the Smithsonian. Our goal is to educate WAHHI members and share that knowledge with the greater community. The Group meets September to April, excluding December. There is an annual $10 fee to cover the costs of most of the monthly programs which are offered at no charge. |
