WE DONATED OVER A TON IN FOOD!

Congratulations – YOU did it!

You met the challenge for our 60th Anniversary Celebration’s community service project benefitting Second Helpings!

Thank YOU to over 100 members who donated food items and made financial contributions yesterday at Whole Foods! WAHHI’s Difference Makers interest group led the effort to collect food and monetary donations. They received, weighed and sorted all the items.

We had more than 1,000 pounds of food donated in two hours – and when the final results were tallied – we weighed in at 2,100 pounds donated in four hours!

Through the generosity of WAHHI members and community neighbors, $2,265 in cash and check donations were also collected! Two stories to share about community involvement from the day were:

  • A gentleman walked up to the food donation truck and said he’d like to volunteer! He took a Second Helpings’ brochure home to get involved!
  • Another gentleman walked up and said he’d like to help and peeled off 3-$100 bills for a cash donation!

It’s amazing how one thing leads to another.  We are very blessed to live in this generous, giving community.

A special thank you to Whole Foods Market for allowing the food drive to be held in their parking lot. Also, a special ‘high five’ to the Difference Maker volunteers who supported our Association’s efforts including: Kay Williams (lead), Karen Simpson, Cherie Bailey, Linda Mulan, Sue Groesbeck, Carolyn Bailiff, Marge Igyarto, Jan Steffen, and co-chairs Connie Berding and Lisa D’Arienzo.
