And That’s a Wrap! I don’t think I have ever been so hot in my life! Who would have thought that the third week in September would have temperatures in the 90’s! However, in spite of the heat, our WAHHI Fall Kickoff and Expo was a huge success and it was because of you and the over one hundred volunteers who worked night and day to make the event a reality. In particular, I would like to thank the Program Committee, Communications Team, Ambassadors and Interest Group Leaders who all stepped up to do whatever it took to coordinate and execute every detail to make this “first ever” event run smoothly.
In our 62 years, on Thursday, we had many “firsts”! We were outside in a very large park instead inside at a hotel for a luncheon, without a formal speaker, in the late afternoon. We reached out to community businesses to believe in us and support us financially as Sponsors and they did! We asked Pink Magazine and WHHI-TV to serve as media sponsors and they gladly accepted! We stepped into the new world of QR codes for registration and check-in and wow, this new process actually worked! We asked all of you our WAHHI women to wear pink in celebration of our sisterhood and strength and you did, in a big way! And finally, our Difference Makers initiated a new monthly focus on a particular nonprofit, this month it was the Sandbox Children’s Museum. A big thank you to so many of you who contributed an enormous number of recyclables to make sure the many children visiting the museum have the supplies they need for a multiplicity of fun projects!
Finally, I want to thank all of you for trusting that a new and different concept for our September event might be fun without ever losing the traditions and legacy of our WAHHI mission and purpose! When we come back together in December, we will return to our traditional luncheon at the Beach and Tennis Club continuing our theme of “Finding Joy”, this time in the gifts of joy we give each other and to those we love!
