Pregnancy Center & Clinic of the Low Country – Thank You

Pregnancy Center & Clinic of the Low Country – The WAHHI grant enabled The Pregnancy Center to provide counseling and support to the uninsured and underserved women in Beaufort County.

The Pregnancy Center and Clinic of the Low Country (PCCLC) is very grateful to have received a 2022 grant from WAHHI to provide counseling, education and support to uninsured and underserved pregnant women residing in Beaufort and Jasper counties. Since January 2022 PCCLC has served 578 women, a five percent (5%) increase over calendar year 2021 with two months remaining in this year.
Fifty two (52) clients have benefitted from individual counseling and ninety seven (97) have participated in group education classes. The group classes have included childbirth preparation, postpartum support and pregnancy loss support groups. Nine percent of clients served this past year have miscarried in the early months of their pregnancies and have shared with us how helpful the pregnancy loss support
group has been to them as they grieve the loss of their baby. The childbirth preparation classes and postpartum support groups are also extremely helpful to our moms and their babies.

Individual counseling has included addressing issues related to depression, anxiety, financial pressures, relationships, health concerns, housing and food insecurity.

Feedback from clients in the past several months include the following: 1) The attention was incredible. Very friendly. They also helped me with prenatal classes and when the baby was born they answered all my questions. Thank you very much; 2) Very grateful for service. Very nice staff, felt like family. Received a lot of information in the classes; 3)Received information about childbirth class. I will be calling you.
Thank you; 4) I can’t believe how nice all the employees are, so kind, makes me feel sad to stop coming. Enrolled in childbirth class.

PCCLCs goal in to never have to turn anyone away because we lack the financial resources to provide care. With the support of WAHHI we are successfully meeting this goal with a particular focus on counseling, education and support.
